Unilateral linear pansclerotic morphea affecting face and limbs.

چکیده
Disabling pansclerotic morphea is a rare atrophying and sclerosing disorder of the subcutaneous tissue, muscle and bone. It is characterized by atrophy of the skin, subcutaneous fat, muscle and bone involving half of the face. In some patients the atrophic lesions extend to involve the ipsilateral or contralateral upper and lower limbs with radiological evidence of hemiatrophy. The patients may present with arthralgia, convulsions or cramps. We report a case of a woman with deformity of face, and left upper and lower limbs that had started as an indurated plaque on the left half of forehead at the age of 5 years and had gradually enlarged, followed by the development of atrophic changes in left eye. The case is being reported in view of its rare occurrence.

متن کاملUpdate on the classification and treatment of localized scleroderma.
Morphea or localized scleroderma is a distinctive inflammatory disease that leads to sclerosis of the skin and subcutaneous tissues. It comprises a number of subtypes differentiated according to their clinical presentation and the structure of the skin and underlying tissues involved in the fibrotic process. However, classification is difficult because the boundaries between the different types...
متن کاملUnilateral generalized morphea: A case report and literature review
Morphea is an autoimmune connective tissue disease of the dermis and subcutaneous fat characterized by sclerosis due to excessive collagen deposition. Morphea is classified into different subtypes based on clinical and histological characteristics of cutaneous lesions. An extremely rare subtype of morphea is termed unilateral generalized morphea (UGM). UGM is characterized by indurated plaques ...

متن کاملLinear scleroderma along Blaschko's lines in a patient with systematized morphea.
We have previously shown that frontoparietal scleroderma en coup de sabre, a type of linear scleroderma that affects the face and scalp, follows the lines of Blaschko, but the question whether linear scleroderma that occurs in the limbs follows Blaschko's lines has not been answered. We describe the case of a 4-year-old girl with multiple morphea showing remarkable unilateral systematized distr...
